Grilled Cheese – The Fort Pub and Grill

What:      Grilled Cheese
Where:    The Fort Pub and Grill   (9273 Glover Road, Fort Langley, BC)  http://www.thefortpub.wix.com
Why:       My friend Kat took me to Fort Langley for my birthday to experience the tasty goodness of “Say Cheese”. Unfortunately we got there too late and it was closed. Instead we went to The Fort Pub and even though it wasn’t on the menu (and neither was any bourbon for my birthday drink!) they were very accommodating and made me a scrumpdillyicious grilled cheese with real cheddar and loads of crispy bacon, just the way I love it. Such a treat I couldn’t have asked for anything more!!

Classic Grilled Cheese – Black Frog

What:      Classic Grilled Cheese on multigrain
Where:    Black Frog   (108 Cambie Street, Vancouver BC)  http://www.theblackfrog.ca
Why:       When I’m hungry, ultimately what I crave is a grilled cheese. It’s been that way since I was wee. When I make them at home I use a combination of thick Kraft slices and aged cheddar on sourdough, rye or multigrain bread. I use real butter and grill until both sides are browned to a crisp and the cheese is getting gooey. I prefer it with a creamy bowl of mushroom soup but fries or salad works. The sandwich pictured above is just how I like them. Bread browned with a crunch, crispy bacon and loads of it covered fully with melted cheese. Eating this was heavenly and if I didn’t have the fries I would have wanted to order another one.
